Smithfield Packaged Meats Corp., which operates under the Stefano Foods brand, is recalling their Pepperoni Five Cheese Calzone products due to the possible presence of sharp pieces of hard plastic. The Charlotte-based company is targeting 24,048 pounds of the products after consumers complained about the presence of the small, clear pieces.

The calzone products were produced on May 23, 2018 and carry a Lot Code 14318B marking. They were shipped to retail stores nationwide. One consumer reported experiencing a small cut inside her mouth. The Food Safety and Inspection Service is concerned that some product may be frozen and in consumers’ and retailer’s freezers.
