Taste Test: Brave Good Kind Chicken Jerky

Our staff tried out three flavors.

This past March, Boston-based startup K2 Ventures launched a new snack brand called Brave Good Kind, with its Tender Chicken Bars as one of its first products.

Available in three flavors - Original, Teriyaki and Hot Honey - the jerky bars are made with nourishing ingredients including antibiotic-free chicken and spices.

They are marketed as a better-for-you snack that offers clean and sustained fuel at work or during on-the-go adventures, like hiking, running and road trips.

The brand says that unlike traditional jerky that’s tough and chewy, the chicken bars are tender and elegant to eat.

The company sent our staff all three flavors to try out.

Each flavor has 8 grams of protein per serving, 40% less sugar than granola bars and 65% less fat than potato chips.

Brave Good Kind notes that chicken is a more sustainable protein source, with 90% less of a carbon footprint than beef.
