The U.S. division of an Amsterdam chocolate company has recalled a pair of its chocolate bars after receiving a dozen reports from consumers that they contained "small stones."
Tony's Chocolonely Inc. said in a statement that the recall affects seven lots of Tony's brand 6.35-ounce Dark Almond Sea Salt Bar and 6.35-ounce Everything Bar. The recalled bars were produced between Feb. 7 and March 24; they were sold in retail stores and at the company's website and were distributed "nationwide," although the consumer complaints were received from outside the U.S. and Canada. No injuries have been reported, the company said.
Company officials said that the stones were not filtered out during third-party almond harvesting or almond processing.
Tony's said that buyers should return the product to the place of purchase for a refund or replacement or dispose of the product.
