Recently, Optimal Engineering Systems (VAN NUYS, CA) announced the release of the YPR-10-15-100 Series, a new series of three-axis high-precision Yaw, Pitch, and Roll Stages. These stages are capable of rotating an object around a fixed point in space on a spherical surface, offering precise control for a range of optical, scientific, and industrial applications.

The YPR-10-15-100 Series allows for precise angular positioning and rotation in three axes—Yaw, Pitch, and Roll—making it suitable for laboratory, manufacturing, and research uses where alignment and measurement accuracy are critical.

Features & Benefits:

  • Yaw (lower) axis: ±10° travel
  • Pitch (middle) axis: ±15° travel
  • Roll (upper) axis: 360° continuous rotation (clockwise or counterclockwise)
  • 100 mm diameter rotary table with a precision pattern of threaded holes for mounting cameras, lasers, mirrors, and fixtures up to 5.0 kg (11 lbs.)
  • Four motor options:
    • -01: Stepper Motor Driven with manual adjustment knobs
    • -02: Three-Phase Brushless DC Servo Motors with Quadrature Optical Encoders
    • -03: Brushed DC Servo Motors with Quadrature Optical Encoders
    • -04: Stepper Motors with Quadrature Optical Encoders for position verification
  • YPR-10-15-100-01 model: ±0.01° repeatability, 0.05° accuracy, 0.002° resolution (10 microstep-per-step driver)
  • Gear ratios: Yaw-axis 420:1, Pitch-axis 300:1, Roll-axis 180:1
  • Compact footprint: 169 mm x 169 mm
  • Yaw and Pitch axes feature End-of-Travel limit switches; Roll axis includes a Home switch
  • Compatible with plug-and-play multi-axis Motion Controllers, Joystick, and Keypad

Suitable for applications including:

  • Crystal identification
  • Medical instrument edge examination
  • Hyperspectral bidirectional reflectance measurement
  • Gloss and LED radiation pattern measurements
  • Laser direction and mirror alignment
  • Quartz oscillator plate manufacturing using X-ray cutting methods
