LYONS, Ga. (August 8, 2017) – Continuing its ongoing investment in the U.S., Chicken of the Sea has announced a $1.4 million technology upgrade of its Lyons, Georgia, processing facility.
The upgrades include a new, high-speed vision system and new canning line, and will be completed by December 2017. The company opened the 200,000-square-foot canning facility in 2009, employing hundreds of employees and canning and packing thousands of cases of quality and healthy seafood daily.

These improvements expand the number of products produced in the Lyons plant and demonstrate our commitment to providing best-in-class production systems. According to Greg Riekhof, plant manager of Chicken of the Sea International Georgia Canning, the new capital improvement projects will boost overall plant efficiency. “This new vision system brings an added level of dependability to the process that further strengthens our food safety program. The new canning system will also provide greater flexibility to deliver on packaging solutions for customers. All of us at the Georgia Canning plant appreciate the confidence Thai Union has in the facility and the ability of our plant to meet the changing needs of consumers.”
