B&G Foods Inc. announced Friday that it has sold canned vegetable brand Le Sueur to McCall Farms Inc.

B&G officials said that the move is part of an effort to focus on its core brands, and that the proceeds would be used in part to pay down debt. B&G also owns the Green Giant vegetable brand, as well as the Cream of Wheat, Crisco and Ortega labels.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. The deal does not include the Le Sieur brand in Canada.

“Our sale of the Le Sueur brand represents continued progress in our ongoing efforts to reshape our portfolio, sharpen focus on our core brands and reduce long-term debt,” B&G President and CEO Casey Keller said in a statement. “The Le Sueur brand has performed very well for us over the years, and we believe it will continue to thrive under the ownership of McCall Farms.”

McCall adds the canned sweet peas, green beans and carrots line to its own canned vegetable portfolio, which includes the Glory Foods, Veg-All and Allens brands, among others. McCall also owns Peanut Patch canned boiled peanuts and the Trappey’s cajun spice brand.
