California nitrogen fertilizer startup Nitricity Inc. announced Tuesday that it has received $10 million in funding to build a "first-of-a-kind" organic fertilizer facility in the San Joaquin Valley.

The capital was contributed by a "strategic mix" of investors, including Elemental Impact and Trellis Climate.

Nitricity said its Delhi, California, facility would result in a "100-fold" increase in production capacity and achieve "commercial-scale" volumes. Its operations are slated to begin in 2026 and reach full capacity in 2028. Its full capacity, officials added, is already sold through 2028 through binding agreements with local organic growers.

The project is expected to create about 20 jobs.

"We are proud to scale up our manufacturing capacity of a product that creates value for California growers—made locally with local ingredients," said Nicolas Pinkowski, CEO of Nitricity. "In a market where most nitrogen is imported, our solution onshores production to deliver exactly what growers have been asking for: a sustainable, organic alternative that strengthens farmers' bottom lines and benefits our community and environment."
