French ingredients company Solina on Thursday announced its acquisition of a suburban Chicago company that will further expand its operations in North America.

Solina officials said that Countryside, Illinois-based Sokol Custom Food Ingredients provides custom savory and sweet sauce solutions for the food manufacturing, retail and foodservice channels. In addition to bolstering Solina's sweet sauce capabilities, the deal will also increase its capacity and scale and strengthen its supply chain.

Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

"Sokol's business is very complementary to Solina USA's business, and it also brings a new specialization in sweet sauces to complement our expertise in savory," Solina CEO Anthony Francheterre said in a statement. "Like Solina USA, Sokol is a value-added partner to its customers through a unique blend of manufacturing capabilities, innovation, and ideation, led by a culinary-driven R&D team."

Officials added that Sokol is located near Solina's existing site in Bolingbrook, Illinois, and would help build a central distribution hub in the Midwest. The deal marks Solina's fourth acquisition in the U.S., following Asenzya in 2021, Saratoga Food Specialties in 2022, and Advanced Food Systems Inc. late last year.
