On Dec. 1, plant-based meat products maker Planterra — a subsidiary of JBS USA — announced the opening of a new factory in Denver, CO.

The company's 189,000-square-foot facility serves as a production facility for its Ozo brand that it launched in 2020, which features products including meatless burgers, nuggets, sausage patties and grounds.

"This is a huge milestone for Planterra Foods, and a dream come true to be manufacturing our OZO products here in our hometown of Denver," said Darcey Macken, Planterra CEO. "We knew Colorado was the perfect place to begin and grow this company, and with our incredible team of passionate, problem-solving food lovers, I’m confident that Planterra will continue to grow the world of plant-based with the best-tasting foods in the market. We can’t wait to share what’s in store with new products, innovations and growth for our community in the future.”

Creating about 200 new jobs, the Denver plant opening comes just a few months after Planterra opened a new office space and R&D Innovation Center in nearby Lafayette, CO that created 100 jobs.
