Dog Food Company 'Inadvertently' Ships Recalled Food

The recall was due to potential Salmonella contamination.

Dog food company Freshpet has recalled certain products due to potential Salmonella contamination.

According to a recent report, the company had initially earmarked the products for destruction.

Instead, some were β€œinadvertently shipped to retailers.”

A partial lot of the brand’s β€œSelect Fresh from the Kitchen Home Cooked Chicken Recipe” 4.5-pound bags were sent to limited Walmart and Target stores.

Freshpet has initiated a voluntary recall of these products and says consumers with these items in their possession should discard them.

So far there have been no reports of illness.

According to the FDA, β€œdogs with Salmonella infections may be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever and vomiting.”
