Anheuser-Busch announced Wednesday that it will invest an additional $300 million to upskill its workforce, bringing the company's total U.S. investment to $600 million in 2025 and 2026.

The brewing giant said the new funds are designed to advance its technology systems and upgrade both its workforce and its supply chain. The company will also increase production and packaging capabilities.

In particular, Anheuser-Busch said it plans to open 15 new technical skills training centers at its operations facilities across the U.S. to upskill more than 90% of its manufacturing workforce over the next five years. The centers will offer training from technical fundamentals and digital tools to management systems and mechanical and electrical systems. More than 2,700 employees have already received training since the company opened its Technical Excellence Center in St. Louis in 2022.

“Anheuser-Busch’s $600 million investment is a testament to our unwavering commitment to the future of American manufacturing," CEO Brendan Whitworth said in a statement. "By strengthening our manufacturing operations, we are creating sustainable careers – not just jobs – and investing in the people who are vital to our success.”

Anheuser-Busch noted that it has also formed strategic partnerships with trade schools, and will continue its work with the Manufacturing Institute’s (MI) Heroes MAKE America initiative to provide former and current service members with resources to pursue manufacturing careers. Since the company adopted the institute's Manufacturing Readiness Badges in May 2025, it has integrated more than 20 credentials that translate military training into skills required for manufacturing roles within its operations.

This year, Anheuser-Busch and MI also plan to accelerate the adoption of the Heroes MAKE America Talent Network, powered by SmartResume – a jointly developed platform designed to make military skills and experience visible, verified and easily understood by employers. Anheuser-Busch has embedded the tool into its career website to support veteran hiring and guide candidates through the application process.

The news is a bright spot for the beer maker that is adjusting to a challenging market and changing consumer tastes. According to the Brewers Association, U.S. beer sales volumes fell in 2024, and a Gallup poll, which has tracked U.S. drinking behavior since 1939, said the number of Americans who reported drinking alcohol hit a record low in 2025.

Late last year, Anheuser-Busch sold its plant in Newark, New Jersey, to property developer the Goodman Group. Earlier this year, the company also closed breweries in Merrimack, New Hampshire and Fairfield, California. The changes impacted some 400 workers.
