Ventilator Maker Increases Production

The ramp up is dependent upon parts from the company's sub-contractors.

The COVID-19 pandemic has increased global demand for ventilators, life support equipment and advanced monitoring for ICUs.

About 14% of COVID-19 patients require hospitalization and oxygen support.

As a result, Swedish medical device maker Getinge is increasing ventilator production capacity.

In 2019, Getinge produced more than 10,000 ventilators, so the increase works out to about 6,000 additional ventilators.

The ventilators will be made at the company's production facility in Solna, Sweden.

They will be shipped to intensive care units around the world.

The ramp up will begin immediately, however it is dependent upon the supply of parts from the company's sub-contractors.
