Walter (Greer, SC) has premiered the Drion∙tec E-Peak D5150 drill body with the DS50 exchangeable twist head. The robust design of the tool provides the high-feed capability to boost machining parameters without compromising hole quality while significantly lowering the cost per hole.
The self-centering capabilities of the exchangeable head geometry eliminate the need for pilot drilling. The replaceable head can be exchanged directly in the machine without screws using a mounting key.
The margins on the DS50 carbide head provide dynamic stability during holemaking. In combination with these margins, the margins on the D5150 steel body provide excellent support even when drilling inclined or curved surfaces.
Targeted for industries with high-volume hole production, the exchangeable head drill’s primary application is drilling steels and heat-resistant super alloys (ISO P, M and S material groups). The secondary application is drilling cast irons, non-ferrous metals and hardened steels and cast iron (ISO K, N and H material groups).
