Makita U.S.A., Inc. (La Mirada, CA) announces the new 80V max (40V max X2) XGT Brushless 14" Power Cutter (model GEC01). The new GEC01 is powered by two 40V max XGT batteries and delivers the performance comparable to a 75.6cc gas power cutter (Makita 14” Power Cutter, model EK7651H), giving users a true gas replacement for cutting concrete, masonry and metal.

The cordless GEC01 requires no gas and no fuel mixing, so there are no fumes or emissions. It also means no pull starts and no engine maintenance, and with no emissions there are no limitations for indoor use.

The 14” wheel diameter allows for single pass cuts up to 5” deep in various masonry and metal materials, and the integrated all-aluminum wheels are ideal for floor cutting applications. Additional features include:

  • Active Feedback-Sensing Technology (AFT), an electronic feature that turns the motor off if wheel rotation is suddenly forced to stop.
  • An electric brake, which allows the tool to be repositioned faster for maximum productivity.
