North American Cannabis Holdings, Inc.and Kali-Extracts recently presented plans to introduce a meatless hamburger infused with CBD. The pitch was made to West Coast Venture Group as a possible addition to the healthy and holistic menu at WCVC's Illegal Burger Restaurants, which are currently generating over $3 million in annual sales.
Also in the mix is KALY, the owner and operator of a patented cannabis extraction process currently used in the development of pharmaceutical products. They could be tapped to help develop the CBD infusion process for such a burger. With all of these parties playing a role, the first CBD-infused, plant-based protein burger could be introduced within months.
Forbes reports that the CBD market is expected to reach $16 billion by 2025. At the same time, Mordor Intelligence expects the plan- based protein market to reach $9 billion by 2024.
