Les Aliments O Sole Mio, Inc., Recalls Poultry Products

Les Aliments O Sole Mio, Inc. is recalling chicken tortellini products that were produced without the benefit of inspection by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and imported into the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service announced Wednesday.

WASHINGTON, Oct. 31, 2018 (USDA FSIS release) ‚ÄĒ Les Aliments O Sole Mio, Inc., a Boisbriand, Quebec, Canada establishment, is recalling 3,880 pounds of chicken tortellini products that were produced without the benefit of inspection by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and imported into the United States, the U.S. Department of Agriculture‚Äôs Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced Wednesday.

The heat treated, not fully cooked, not shelf stable chicken tortellini items were produced on October 20, 2018. The following products are subject to recall:

  • 20-oz. packages of ‚ÄúO‚ÄôSOLE MIO LA PASSIONE DELLA CUCINA ITALIANA Tortellini CHICKEN‚ÄĚ with lot code 293018 and ‚ÄúUSE ON OR FREEZE BY‚ÄĚ JAN. 18 19.  

The products subject to recall bear Canadian establishment number ‚Äú764‚ÄĚ within the Canadian mark of inspection. These items were shipped to warehouse locations in Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

The problem was discovered when the CFIA notified FSIS that the Canadian establishment produced the product outside the approved period of work shift agreement.

There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a healthcare provider.  

FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumers’ freezers or refrigerators. Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. These products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
