J.M. Smucker announced Monday that it will invest more than $120 million to expand a facility in Georgia.
Smucker officials said in a statement from a local economic development agency that the project would, in part, add a new building at the complex, which has produced Hostess brand baked sweets for more than five decades. It would also fund equipment purchases and additional renovations at the site.
The expansion is also expected to add “at least” 48 jobs, according to the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer, which would bring its overall workforce to more than 400.
Construction, which is already underway, is expected to wrap up by early 2027.
Smucker, which owns the Twinkies maker along with Folgers coffee, Jif peanut butter and Milk-Bone dog treats, said that the move would help meet customer demand, while Missy Kendrick, the president and CEO of Choose Columbus, said that the announcement meant that the Hostess plant is “not going anywhere.”
