GRAMERCY, La. (AP) — An Imperial Sugar Co. packaging facility is closing in September and state officials say 49 jobs will be affected. The Louisiana Workforce Commission said on Monday that it received notice that a packaging facility in Gramercy, Louisiana, owned by Imperial Sugar will be closing at the end of September. Imperial Sugar, a sugar company based in Sugar Land, Texas, was purchased in 2012 by Louis Dreyfus Co. LLC., a food processing company based in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Imperial Sugar was founded in 1843 and State officials say they will help workers try to find new jobs. Officials with Louis Dreyfus did not immediately return a message seeking comment. |
