SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (AP) — Simmons Feed Ingredients plans to open a pet food ingredient facility in Siloam Springs.
The company, which is a division of Simmons Foods, Inc. & Affiliates, held a groundbreaking ceremony Tuesday for the $26 million facility. The larger Simmons company employs about 1,200 people at its manufacturing facility also in Siloam Springs.
The Arkansas Economic Development Commission says the company plans to hire 78 workers for the facility that will produce fresh and frozen meat ingredients for pet food manufacturers. The building is scheduled to be completed next November.
The company received several incentives from the state including income tax credits, sales and use tax refunds on building materials and taxable machinery and a grant to pay for wastewater pretreatment at the facility.
