Beer, wine and spirits company Constellation Brands plans to sell select "mainstream wine brands and related vineyards" to California wine company The Wine Group, company officials announced earlier this month.
The deal would include the Woodbridge, Meiomi, Robert Mondavi Private Selection, Cook’s, SIMI and J. Rogét sparkling wine brands. The company said the move is part of a broader strategy to build a "higher-end" wine lineup that aligns with its beer portfolio.
The company — which also owns Corona brand beers and liquor brands Casa Noble Tequila and High West Whiskey — will retain wine brands priced predominantly at "$15 and above" in growing consumer channels, including Robert Mondavi, Kim Crawford and Sea Smoke.
“Concentrating our wine and spirits portfolio in higher-growth segments remains an important element of our overall business strategy and complements our higher-end beer portfolio, aiming to ensure we continue to participate in more consumer occasions across beer, wine and spirits," Constellation President and CEO Bill Newlands said in a statement.
The deal is scheduled to close after the end of Constellation's FY2026 first quarter, subject to regulatory approval and other closing conditions.
