A report in a French financial publication, L’Agefi, said that General Mills may be looking to sell its Yoplait yogurt brand.

2iStockThe report said that “several sources” claim General Mills is working with Morgan Stanley on exploring a potential sale of the brand, with French dairy cooperative Sodiaal as a strong buyer candidate. Soodial currently owns 49 percent of Yoplait, which General Mills bought a 51 percent stake from France-based PAI group in 2011 for $1.2 billion.

The report said General Mills aims to exclude major competitors, such as Nestlé and Lactalis, from acquiring Yoplait.

General Mills has not commented on such a potential sale. Yoplait had 2019 net sales of $905 million. Sales have dropped steadily since a high-point of $1.4 billion in 2015.
