Solving Industry-Wide Packaging Problems

Feature bloat leads to convoluted systems that customers don't need or use, so High Tek is cutting out the "glitter" to make automation equipment easy to operate by any skill level.

Jason Sigman, the founder and CEO of California-based packaging company High Tek, joins "5 Minutes with Food Manufacturing" to discuss how he makes automation equipment that relieves stress for food manufacturers who are struggling to find skilled employees.

Finding quality workers has been a challenge for food manufacturers. While some companies continue to add capabilities, Sigman says that type of "feature bloat" can lead to convoluted systems that customers don't need or use β€” so he cuts out the "glitter" with automation equipment that is easy to operate by any skill level.

Sigman built his business like a fireman because, he says, he finds himself helping a customer put out a fire every day. Food manufacturers do business in harsh environments that will cause any machine to break down. As a result, Sigman stresses the importance of having parts on the shelf to ensure clients are back up and running with minimal downtime.
