GE Refrigerators Recalled After Dozens of Injuries

Handles are falling off.

Six models of refrigerators produced by GE are being blamed for 37 injuries.

According to reports, the handles on the freezers of these French door refrigerators are detaching while users are trying to open them.

71 handles have reportedly detached, resulting in dozens of injuries, including three considered β€œserious” where users have fallen.

Stores including Lowe’s, Home Depot and Best Buy carried these models, which were sold between 2020 and early 2022.

GE is now voluntarily recalling the appliances and will provide a free, in-home repair.

Meanwhile, says GE, users β€œcan open the freezer by gripping the edge of the freezer door where the flexible rubber sealing gasket meets the metal freezer door.”
