ELECTRI-FLEX COMPANY of Roselle, IL has released a new Antimicrobial Food Grade White Paper featuring Liquatite flexible electrical conduits that are ideal solutions for food processing, pharmaceutical, and bottling equipment installations. Discover the benefits of the new food processing blue color, a wide working temperature range, antimicrobial jacketing, and additional wear resilience.

Food processing facilities must follow stringent health and safety guidelines, and flexible conduit installations should support these objectives. Conduit is meant to safely route electrical wiring through modern food processing plants, while safeguarding foreign material contamination, and inhibiting bacteria growth.

Antimicrobial Integration | Liquatite conduit Types LAFG and LSSFG provide a flexible PVC jacketing with an antimicrobial biocide additive. This proactive approach means bacterial growth is actively inhibited and integrated directly into the design of the protective jacketing material. In a 24-hour period, the jacketing showed a reduction of commonly known food processing microbes, such as E. coli, listeria, and salmonella.

Blue Jacketing | Throughout Europe and Canada, food processing plants have been using blue jacketed flexible conduit, only recently being introduced to the U.S. market. Blue is a color that does not occur naturally in the food chain, making any plastic contamination in the product stream easy to spot. The coloring also provides other benefits such as stain and discoloration resistance, and lower reflectivity that causes less interference with optoelectronic devices found on production lines.

Strengthening Wear Resilience | Food equipment conduit installations could be near heat-producing equipment, or receive regular hot washdowns, therefore, wear resilience and temperature range are critical considerations. Food grade conduit Types LAFG and LSSFG now offer a wider temperature range, from -30°C through 105°C, as well as LAFG providing additional CSA “Heavy-Duty” certification.

Liquatite Benefits | Types LAFG and LSSFG Liquatite conduits are both Certified Components for NSF/ANSI 169 special purpose food equipment. These Types also meet FDA CFR21 and NSF 51/61 requirements, offer a liquid-tight smooth exterior for easy washdown, and are resistant to sodium hypochlorite (bleach).
