If your process sprays onto a product, a coating, an oil, a release agent, or an adhesive, then somebody at some point had to decide how much of it to put on. And in most plants, the way you change that amount is by walking over to the regulator and turning the pressure up or down.
It seems like the most obvious control in the world. More pressure, more fluid. The problem is that the pressure is not doing one job inside a spray nozzle, it is doing three at the same time.
It sets your flow rate, it sets your drop size, and it sets your spray angle. So, the operator who turned the pressure down to save material has also just changed two things that nobody asked them to change.
