Iowa-based Wells Enterprises, which makes the Blue Bunny brand of ice cream, recently announced plans to buy a Nevada plant that would become its fifth U.S. manufacturing facility. A current Unilever plant in Henderson, Nevada is seen as a solution to help meet growing demand in the western U.S. The company also makes Bomb Pops and private label ice cream products.
Wells is the largest privately-held, family-owned manufacturer of ice cream other frozen treats in the U.S. It is based out of Le Mars, Iowa with production facilities in New York and New Jersey.
