Baumer Foods, Inc. of Metairie, Louisiana is recalling 10-ounce glass bottles of PICS Soy Sauce, because it may contain undeclared fish. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to fish run the risk of an allergic reaction. PICS Soy Sauce was distributed in Upstate New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, Vermont, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire through Price Chopper Supermarkets, Market Bistro and Market 32’s.
There have been no related illnesses. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product labeled as Soy Sauce without the known fish allergen actually contained Worcestershire sauce. Worcestershire Sauce has the known allergen fish. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by a temporary oversight during the packaging processes.
