E.Coli Triggers Fourth Flour-Related Recall

Brand Castle joins Aldi, Pillsbury and King Arthur - all of whom in the last month have issued recalls due to flour traced back to the same mill.

Bedford Heights, OH-based Brand Castle, LLC is recalling several brands of cookie and brownie mix because flour used in them was potentially contaminated with E. coli. The recall effects mixes sold in 25-ounce and 32-ounce glass jars containing Arctic Chill Chocolate Mint Cookie Mix, Hot Cocoa Cookie Mix, Sisters Gourmet Million Dollar Cookie Mix, Sisters Gourmet Billion Dollar Brownie Mix, In the Mix Chocolate Mint Chip Cookie Mix and Brand Castle The Grinch Sugar Cookie Mix with Sprinkles.

The products were distributed in 10 states. The recall was initiated in cooperation with ADM Milling Company, the same mill associated with previous recalls from Aldi, King Arthur and Pillsbury for flour products.

So far, the flour products from these four recalls are associated with 17 illnesses and three hospitalizations.
