Forest City, NC-based Valley Fine Foods has issued a Class II recall of nearly 36,000 pounds of meat and poultry products that may contain spoilage organisms.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced the recall on October 11, 2018.
The heat-treated, not fully cooked, refrigerated meat and poultry products were produced on various dates from Aug. 15, 2018 through Oct. 4, 2018.
The products affected by the recall include "SIMPLE DISHES" brands Chicken Penne Alfredo, Chicken Primavera, Italian Sausage Ziti and Rigatoni with Meatballs and a Mushroom Cream Sauce.
The products were shipped to retail locations in California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan and North Carolina.
The problem was uncovered on October 4th, during routing testing by Valley Fine Foods' R&D department.
There have been no confirmed reports of injury or illness, but FSIS is concerned that some product may be in consumer’s refrigerators or freezers.
If found, the products should be thrown away or returned to the place of purchase.
