PITTSBURGH (AP) — The Giant Eagle supermarket chain is recalling bags of garden salad because of possible contamination.
The Pittsburgh-based chain says various bags of Farmer's Market salad with best before dates between May 12 and May 22 are included.
The recall was announced on May 18 by River Ranch Fresh Foods of California, which produced the salads.
River Ranch says the salads have the potential of being contaminated with Listeria, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
River Ranch says there have been no reported illnesses associated with the recall.
