Mars Inc. snack bar brand Nature’s Bakery plans to close its suburban St. Louis plant in a move that will cut 345 jobs, the subsidiary said this week.

Nature’s Bakery LLC notified Missouri officials of its plans to shutter the Hazelwood facility on Tuesday. St. Louis Public Radio reported that the company intends to shift that production to other facilities, including a plant opened last year in Salt Lake City.

The company intends to cut 130 jobs in September and 215 more in early 2027. The remaining staff will be eliminated when the plant closes in September 2027. Affected employees, the brand said, will be able to apply for other positions with Nature’s Bakery or Mars, which acquired the brand through its buyout of Kind Snacks in 2020.
