SPX Flow subsidiary APV and dairy cooperative Arla Foods announced a partnership Tuesday to invest over $30 million in an expansion of a dairy plant in the U.K.

Company officials said that the project would make the Lockerbie Creamery in southern Scotland into an ultra-high temperature “center of excellence.”

"By combining our APV expertise, Arla's creating a UHT Center of Excellence that will sustainably support innovation and deliver high-quality products for years to come,” Simon Phillips, the president of Nutrition & Health Solutions at SPX Flow, said in the announcement.

SPX Flow said that its ultra-high temperature solution meets Arla’s goals for minimizing waste, energy and water at the facility.

Arla started work late last week on a broader project at the Lockerbie facility that is expected to create about 90 jobs. More than 240 currently work at the 50-year-old plant, the BBC reported.
