Virginia ice cream sandwich maker Nightingale plans to move to a new headquarters and manufacturing facility in its native Richmond after outgrowing its existing location, state and company officials announced.

The company, founded in 2016, will invest $5.8 million in its new 29,000-square-foot facility, which includes 24,000 square feet of production space. The larger plant is expected to result in the addition of 166 jobs, state officials said.

Nightingale says it has doubled in size year-over-year and that its ice cream sandwiches are now available in 5,000 chain and independent grocery locations across the country.

“What began in the kitchen of a Richmond restaurant has grown into something beyond what we ever imagined,” Hannah Pollack, Nightingale’s co-founder, president and CEO said in a statement.
