Olive oil producer Deoleo said in it recent "Sustainability Report" that it has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions by 30% in two years and certified more than 800,000 acres of farmland under its "Sustainability Protocol."
The company also said that it has become the first in the olive oil sector to report in accordance with rigorous European CSRD standards.
“At Deoleo, sustainability isn’t a trend — it’s a purpose that begins at the very source of our oil," CEO Cristobal Valdes said in a statement. "Initiatives like our 'Sustainability Protocol' ensure a positive impact from field to table, benefiting both the environment and the communities within our value chain."
The report also indicated that Deoleo has "repurposed or valorized" 94% of factory waste, increase procurement from "sustainable mills," taken steps to address gender pay gaps, and conducted sustainability assessments of "100% of its copackers and auxiliary material suppliers."
Eighty-eight mills are now certified under the Sustainability Protocol, which includes nearly 60,000 farmers and more than 835,000 acres.
