Baked goods giant Bimbo announced Monday that its Thomas' brand has launched a new line of "high protein" bagels.
The new line, available in "Plain" and "Everything" varieties, provides 20 grams of protein in each bagel, officials said, through a plant-based blend of soy protein isolate, pea protein isolate and fava bean proteins.
"Today's consumers are looking for convenient, protein-rich options that don't compromise on taste," Thomas' Senior Brand Manager Jinder Bhogal said in a statement. "Our new 'High Protein Bagels' offer consumers variety with a breakfast solution that's not only packed with nutrition, but also rooted in the iconic flavor Thomas' is known for."
The products debuted in the Northeast market at a suggested retail price of $5.99. They are expected to be rolled out nationwide by October.
