The Idaho Potato Commission said Thursday that its "Kiss of French" — a French fry-inspired lip balm made with real Idaho potatoes — had sold out within 48 hours of its launch.
Following a limited-edition Valentine's Day release, the commission said prospective buyers will have a final change to buy the balm in an Instagram giveaway running through Friday.
The commission said that the balm blends mashed Idaho potatoes into a hydrating formula that softens lips while delivering "a subtle fry-inspired essence."
"French fries aren't just a favorite — they're a full-on obsession," said IPC President and CEO Jamey Higham. "Americans consume over 9 billion pounds of fries each year, and when they want the best, they turn to Idaho potatoes. With Kiss of French, we took that love and turned it into something unexpected and unforgettable."
The balm marks IPC's second beauty-meets-food launch, joining "Frites by Idaho" — a fry-scented perfume.
