DALLAS (AP) — Eight funky foods — including fried Jell-O — are in the running for Best Taste and Most Creative in the State Fair of Texas annual Big Tex Choice Awards.

Fair officials in Dallas on Wednesday announced the eight finalists, with the two top picks to be revealed on Aug. 28.

The list of culinary creations also includes Caribbean pineapple Korn-a-Copia, deep fried bacon burger dog slider on a stick and deep fried pulled pork Funyuns.

Other delicacies are State Fair cookie fries, a chicken pot pie pocket with macaroni and cheese dip, injectable great balls of BBQ and southern fried chicken and dumplings.

The State Fair of Texas runs Sept. 30 through Oct. 23 at Fair Park in Dallas.
