Minnesota distributor Baldwin Supply Company announced Wednesday that it would triple the size of its location in South Dakota’s largest city.

The company’s Sioux Fall branch opened in 2001 and today serves OEM and MRO customers in South Dakota as well as Southwest Minnesota, Northwest Iowa and into neighboring states in the West. The expansion would take the facility to over 50,000 square feet, officials said, and strengthen “a key hub in its growing Midwest network.” In addition to adding more warehouse and office space, the project would add a customer training center and an indoor truck pull-through with an overhead crane system.

Sioux Falls is also home to one of Baldwin's five regional conveyor belt service teams. The company provides conveyor belting, electrical and automation products, pneumatics, power transmission and other industrial supplies.

“Our customers count on us to understand their operations, help solve problems and respond when they need us most,” Baldwin Supply owner and CEO Rob LaRue said in a statement. “This expansion puts us in an even stronger position to deliver on those expectations and support their growth for years to come.”

The project is expected to be completed early next year, and Baldwin officials plan to hold an open house event shortly thereafter.

Baldwin, based in the Twin Cities area, operates 14 branches across Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, Kansas, the Dakotas and — as of early October — Nebraska, where it opened its first branch in Omaha.
