Topo Chico’s flagship mineral water reportedly will not be available in the U.S. for some time while its production facilities in Mexico undergo upgrades.
The Dallas Morning News reported that Topo Chico owner Coca-Cola is making facility improvements both at production plants and at the water source for Topo Chico. Coke officials anticipate returning the mineral water to U.S. store shelves later this year.
“As always, safety and quality are the company’s top priorities,” Coca-Cola said in a statement.
Other Topo Chico branded beverages will continue to be available, the report added.
Topo Chico, which dates back to 1895, began to be exported to the U.S. in the 1990s. Coke acquired the label in 2017.
