Members of Teamsters Local 29 in Mount Crawford, Virginia, have ratified a new contract with Danone North America, the union announced Thursday.

Teamsters officials said the deal includes "significant" increases in pay and benefits for 550 workers at the dairy facility, which include technicians, drivers, mechanics and lab and control room staff.

The new agreement also guarantees wage increases, additional paid sick time and vacation time, maintenance of medical benefits, entrance into the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Fund, and a simplified grievance procedure, the union said.

"Our members deserve a great contract that reflects the sacrifice and commitment they provide to making Danone successful, and that is exactly what we accomplished," Michael Moxley, president of Teamsters Local 29, said in a statement. "This contract provides our members with better pay and a secure retirement."

The deal follows a contract between Danone and Teamsters Local 767 at a plant in Fort Worth, Texas.
