Netherlands-based SVZ-USA recently unveiled plans to expand its food processing facility in Othello, Washington. The company, which specializes in fruit and vegetable juices, concentrates and purees, will be adding 17 new manufacturing jobs and investing upwards of $4.8 million to increase capacity at the 19-year-old facility.
In support of the expansion, the Washington Department of Commerce provided a $100,000 grant to the Adams County Development Council from the Economic Development Strategic Reserve Fund. The grant will help offset the cost of sewer system improvements, and extend the line to help facilitate future connections. In addition to the new jobs, the expansion should lead to the increased sourcing from local farms by about 30 million pounds annually.
