Green Plastic Triggers 21-Ton Beef Recall

The recall pertains to nine varieties of one-pound packages of ground beef, ranging in types and lean percentages.

Ground Beef

JBS Plainwell, Inc., of Plainwell, Michigan, is recalling approximately 43,292 pounds of ground beef products that may be contaminated with extraneous materials, specifically, pieces of hard plastic. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service made the announcement. The recall pertains to nine varieties of one-pound packages of ground beef, ranging in types and lean percentages.

The ground beef products were produced on March 20 and shipped to retail locations in Michigan and Wisconsin. The problem was discovered when the company received two complaints of green hard plastic in the ground beef products. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
