Improper Packaging Leads to Spicy Surprise, Recall

Restaurant customers expecting chicken noodle soup may have gotten more than they expected.

Chicken Noodle Soup

Fall River, Massachusetts-based Blount Fine Foods is recalling an undetermined amount of ready-to-eat chicken soup products due to misbranding and an undeclared allergen. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service made the announcement. The product contains milk, a known allergen, which is not declared on the product label.

The eight-pound cases of frozen Chicken & Poblano Pepper Soup were labeled incorrectly as Homestyle Chicken Noodle Soup. The products in question were produced on January 24 and were shipped to restaurant distributor locations nationwide. The problem was discovered when the firm received a consumer complaint. There have been no confirmed reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products.
