Del Monte Foods will close down additional facilities in southern Washington state, according to local reports.
The fruit and vegetable producer notified state officials of the decision on Monday, the Tri-Cities Area Journal of Business reported.
The company will shutter a processing facility in Yakima and a pair of nearby warehouses — resulting in the loss of 51 full-time jobs and 448 seasonal positions.
The Yakima plant reportedly made canned pear products; company officials indicated that the closures reflected adjustments made in an effort to meet shifting consumer demands.
The move follows the closure of another Del Monte processing plant in nearby Toppenish, Washington, early last year.
