Cambium Analytica Announces Expansion Plans in Northwestern Michigan

The project is expected to add 34 new jobs.

Michigan research and testing firm Cambium Analytica announced a $1.2 million expansion that the company said will add lab equipment and increase its testing capacity.

The Traverse City company hopes the investment will enable further research and drive innovation in several aspects of its business — most importantly through new subsidiary Turquoise Environment.

Cambium Analytica is a B2B analytical testing, product development and contract research company that serves the natural food, dietary supplement and botanical product industries, including the legal cannabis sector.

The expansion is expected to create 34 new jobs and includes the support of a $200,000 Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant from the Michigan Strategic Fund. The new positions will pay an average wage of $26.80 per hour plus benefits, more than $6 per hour above the regional median wage.

According to co-founder and CEO Alex Adams, Turquoise Environmental built a new PFAS testing lab in Traverse City to help safeguard the region's valuable freshwater ecosystems.

The company will also expand engineering services to clients both in Michigan and across the U.S. The diversification will allow the Cambium Analytica to grow in Michigan’s engineering, design and development sector. 

Since 2019, the company has grown to 78 employees in the U.S., 73 of which are based in Michigan. The company said that its growth is fueled by consumer demand for product transparency, along with the need for next-generation laboratory services in Northwest Michigan.

In a statement, Warren Call, president and CEO of regional economic group Traverse Connect, said that the Michigan Strategic Fund's investment will enhance advanced testing and development in the state's agricultural and natural product markets.
