PRESCOTT, Wis. (AP) — A large distributor of natural and specialty foods in North America plans to build a $38 million plant in northwestern Wisconsin.
United Natural Foods Inc. is expected to begin construction of a 300,000-square-foot distribution center in Prescott in May. The center could employ more than 300 people in the next three years.
It's the second United Natural Foods distribution center for Wisconsin. The Canadian company announced earlier it planned to build in Racine County as well this year.
Gov. Scott Walker says the company's decision to build another plant in Wisconsin is a tribute to the state's pro-business climate.
The company is eligible for up to $3.5 million in state tax credits over a four-year period. The plant will be located about 30 miles southeast of the Twin Cities.
