Beer, wine and spirits company Constellation Brands has named a former Suntory official as its new chief executive, company officials announced last week.

The owner of the Modelo Especial beer, Kim Crawford wine and Casa Noble tequila labels, among other brands, said that Nick Fink would take over as its president and CEO on April 13, when current President and CEO Bill Newlands steps down.

The change reflected “a thoughtful and comprehensive CEO succession planning process” over the past several years, Constellation Chair Chris Baldwin said in the announcement. Newlands will remain as a strategic advisor over the next several months.

“Nick will bring unique perspective and capabilities that will benefit Constellation and its stakeholders as we position the company for long-term success in a rapidly evolving and hyper-competitive environment,” Baldwin said.

Fink previously spent nine years at Suntory Global Spirits, including stints as the Japanese company’s chief strategy officer and president of its Asia Pacific and South America operations. He mostly recently served as CEO of home security products company Fortune Brands Innovations, and has served on Constellation’s board since 2021.

“I’ve long admired Constellation’s ability to build iconic brands that resonate strongly with consumers,” said Fink. “I look forward to getting out into the market, engaging with team members and industry partners across the business, and working with the Constellation team to further build on the company’s core strengths.”
