On Jan. 14, a Canadian producer of food grocery staples issued a recall for its entire product portfolio due to a rat infestation.
Saskatoon, Saskatchewan-based Bistak Enterprises Inc. and Bistak Groceries Inc. recalled all food it produced and distributed through Dec. 29.
The infestation may have resulted in Salmonella contamination.
Products involved include grains, beans, flour, grocery canned goods, fats and oils, drinks, meat products, fish products, baked goods, spices and milk powder.
The products have been sold in Alberta, British Columbia and Manitoba, Saskatchewan and may have been distributed in other provinces and territories.
The recall was triggered by a referral from The Saskatchewan Health Authority, which recommends consumers discard or return all impacted items.
There are no illnesses related to the recall as of its posting.
