CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) — Campbell Soup Co. president and CEO Douglas Conant is leading the company from a hospital as he recuperates from surgery after he was injured in a motor vehicle accident.
The company says the 58-year-old was riding in his vehicle's back seat when it crashed on the New Jersey Turnpike Thursday. Conant was heading from Campbell's Camden headquarters to his home in Morris County.
The company says Conant broke some ribs. Citing Conant's privacy, company spokesman Anthony Sanzio would not say how else he was injured or where he is being treated.
Conant underwent surgery over the weekend.
Sanzio says Conant will not attend an investor meeting set July 14 and July 15 in Maxton, N.C.
