LITITZ, Pa. (AP) — A union leader says he doesn't think a possible case of product tampering at a southern Pennsylvania chocolate plant is related to a labor dispute there.
Chocolate Workers Local 464 business agent Bruce Hummel says employees of the Wilbur Chocolate plant in Lititz are long-term, conscientious employees. He says the workers' families and neighbors eat the chocolate made there.
A representative for Cargill Inc. says three pieces of "foreign material" were discovered at the Wilbur Chocolate plant in Lititz, and the FBI and the Food and Drug Administration are investigating.
The Lancaster County plant may not reopen for several weeks. Only one-third of the employees will report to work and they will be cleaning the plant.
